What type of website do you need to host?
Blogs
Weblogs are commonly hosted on the software developers own server, but if you want your own standalone blog site and require hosting for it, then we’d recommend our basic Linux Hosting package – Prices available on request.
Advertising Websites
Due to these types of websites being graphic intensive and due to their purpose being for high rankings and lots of traffic – we recommend either our mid range windows server hosting, or the linux mid range package – both are more than suitable and we have space available now. Prices available on request.
eCommerce/Online Shops
These websites are resource HUNGRY. They also end up being the highest traffic websites (lots of traffic = lots of sales) so we put these on either our windows or linux servers depending on the software they’ve been built in – these eCommerce servers have limited spots available to ensure the sites on them run fast and smoothly and have a 99.9% uptime guarantee – Please call for availability.
Are you starting from scratch or moving host?
If you are developing your own site using ASP.net and MSSQL then you will need to host your website on our windows box – if you are developing your site using php and mysql then the linux box is for you.
If you are moving your website from an existing webhost then you will need to check the language its written in and get the relevant hosting that suits. As a rule, ASP = windows hosting and php = linux hosting, although sometimes there are cases where they cross over.
I want to move hosts but i dont know what to do!
When moving hosts you need to ensure you have access to all your files on your existing server (FTP Access?) and most modern websites run a data base too – so dont forget to get a copy before you end any contracts with your old host.
